The IDIA Football League 2014 (IFL 2014), concluded successfully on September 7, 2011. This event was organised by Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access (IDIA) to raise funds to support the legal education of underprivileged children studying at leading law schools across India. The IFL 2014 was powered by Vahura, legal talent specialists, co-organised by the Times Foundation, and Legal league Consulting were the prize sponsors.
The IFL 2014 was preceded by the IDIA Scholar Conference, which was co-organised by the Times Foundation. Mr. Antony Alex, CEO, Rainmaker and Ms. Tanisha Deshpande from Vahura conducted interactive sessions for IDIA Scholars at the Times of India office in Mumbai and discussed various career options with them. Vahura also conducted individual counseling sessions for each IDIA Scholar and addressed them on the art of writing effective resumes and attending interviews.
On the 6th and 7th of September, 2014, IFL matches were held at the Kamala Mills Ground, Mumbai, which saw 140 players from 14 teams fight it out for two trophies—IFL Championship and IFL Plate. The participating teams were AMSS, Bharucha & Partners, Fortitude Law, IDIA Well-Wishers, JSA ‘A’, JSA ‘B’, Khaitan & Co., Krishnamurthy & Co., Luthra & Luthra, Platinum Law, RDA Legal, Trilegal, Vahura, Wadia Ghandy & Co.
Exciting league matches on the 6th September determined the draw of the knock-out matches on the 7th. The IFL Championship Final witnessed a thrilling contest between two evenly matched teams, Bharucha & Partners and JSA ‘A’. The match went to penalties, with Bharucha finally taking the Championship trophy. The finals of the IFL Plate witnessed another exciting finish, with Trilegal defeating Wadia Ghandy & Co. Mr. Labendu Das of AMSS finished off as the Highest Goal-Scorer and Mr. Narayan Kedia of JSA ‘A’ was adjudged to be the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
The IFL 2014 concluded with an award ceremony and a fundraising evening, IFL Night. Ms. Madhurima Mukherjee, Chief Mentor at IDIA and a Partner at AZB hosted the evening, and Mr. Pramod Rao, General Counsel, Citibank and Mr. Ritvik Lukose, CEO, Vahura addressed the gathering briefly. A few IDIA Scholars then took the stage to share their heart-warming stories and experiences, which touched a chord with everyone present.
