the Third Edition of IDIA Football League (IFL 2016)
the IDIA Awards Ceremony and Fundraising Dinner 2016
About the IDIA Football League
Conceptualised in 2014 for football’s popularity amongst legal professionals as also sport’s ability to nurture diversity by being open to all classes of society, the IDIA Football League (IFL) is IDIA’s annual fundraising tournament. The funds raised from the IFL go towards the education of the brilliant and deserving scholars that IDIA supports across premier law schools in India. The 3rd edition of the IFL is scheduled to take place over the weekend of 15th & 16th October 2016 in Mumbai at the Western Railway Grounds, Lower Parel. As with the past two editions of the IFL, the IFL is powered by the long-time sponsor, Vahura.
Teams come together to compete for a good cause – raising money for IDIA. The money raised from the tournament is used to sponsor the legal education of our Scholars, who are students from underprivileged and marginalised backgrounds, who have cracked the highly competitive law entrance examinations to gain admission in the National Law Universities and other leading law colleges of India.
The past two editions of the IFL have seen participation from over 200 players in 20 teams fighting it out for the IFL Championship and IFL Plate. The first two editions featured teams from a number of well-known law firms such as Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, WadiaGhandy & Co., Bharucha & Partners, Trilegal, Khaitan & Co., and J Sagar Associates, along with legal teams of Star India and Mahindra & Mahindra, among others. The first edition saw Bharucha & Partners winning the Champions trophy while Trilegal won the Plate trophy. The second edition saw Star India beating Trilegal to bag the Champions trophy while Khaitan defeated Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas to win the IFL Plate. The 2016 edition will be the third consecutive edition and is expected to feature 20 teams competing for the IFL Trophy and the IFL Plate.
