Pritam Das hails from Basanti, a small, impoverished village in the Sunderbans, West Bengal. His father is an employee in West Bengal Irrigation Department and mother is a homemaker. The family income of Rs.10000 per month Pritam Dey NLUOsupports six people including Pritam’s younger brother who is in high school and grandparents. Despite his background Pritam dedicatedly pursued his dream of law school after an IDIA sensitization in his school.

After being chosen by IDIA for training, Pritam worked really hard to do well in the CLAT. Unfortunately, Pritam was unable to appear for CLAT immediately, yet he did not give up hope. He enrolled in the Department of Law, Hazra Campus, Calcutta University, and continued to prepare for the CLAT. His dedication and hard work paid off and Pritam secured admission to NLU Odisha in 2014.

In law school, Pritam has been an active volunteer for events in college and plays cricket. He has also interned at IDIA, Socio Legal Aid Research and Training Center (SLARTC) and has explored litigation under Adv. Jishnu Choudhury, Calcutta High Court.  However, he aims to appear for Civil Services Examinations after his law school.

It is a testament to his sincerity and honesty that every IDIA trainer who interacted with Pritam came away with the experience of meeting someone really special. We look forward to this IDIA Scholar accomplishing much in his life, and scaling greater heights!
