Susmit Isfaq hails from a modest background in Guwahati, Assam. The only child to his parents, Isfaq lost his mother around eight years ago, and is supported solely by his father who is a party worker for the Communist Party of India (M). His family survives on his father’s party allowance andSusmit Isfaq mother’s pension, pegging the monthly income at INR. 10,000.

Despite growing up under precarious circumstances, Isfaq’s resolve to succeed has never been dampened. Isfaq was introduced to IDIA by a student of National Law University, Assam while promoting the ‘Diversity at Home’ project of IDIA. Hardworking and gifted with an extremely bright mind, he trained with IDIA for CLAT and performed well in CLAT 2016, thereby gaining admission into National Law University, Assam.

Isfaq intends to work hard in pursuing a career in law. He aspires to become a ‘politician with a heart’ and work for marginalised communities in the north-east region of India.
