Ramesh Kumar Solanki

Ramesh Kumar Solanki

Ramesh Kumar Solankis father is a leather worker in Siwana village in Barmer, Rajasthan. Their combined family income is a meagre INR 4,000 per month. An affinity towards law seems to run in Rameshs genes, given that his elder brother too is already studying law at NUJS with the help of scholarships and bank loans to bear the burden of the high costs of a legal education from a national law school. Ramesh completed his schooling from JNV Pachapadra with 78.8% score in CBSE exams. A young student with a keen desire for learning and razor-sharp intelligence, Rameshs will to pursue law rests on his ardent desire to make a difference through grass root-level law practice for the local community in his village. Ramesh is also one of the rare IDIA scholars to have tasted success more than once in the immensely competitive CLAT examination. Inspite of securing admission to RGNUL, Patiala in 2012, Ramesh could not take admission due to lack of funds and had to drop the idea of joining a national law school. Though disappointed at the loss of opportunity, he was not someone who could be discouraged to give up his fight. And fight he did! Since June 2012, Ramesh toiled each day to attempt CLAT and AILET again in 2013 and passed the AILET with flying colours, securing a rank of 32 and gaining admission at NLU-Delhi and also at NUJS through CLAT 2013. This twin success has not overwhelmed Ramesh, who thinks that these are merely stepping stones towards his goal of representing all those who lack the clout and power to take their battles to the...

Priyanka Hazarika

Priyanka Hazarika grew up in Guwahati, Assam and completed her class XII from Cotton College scoring 82% in her board examination. She arrived in Kolkata during the end of March to prepare for the CLAT and the AILET examinations. Within days, she jumped headlong into an intense study curriculum by putting over 10 hours of study each day. In less than a month, Priyanka cleared the AILET, qualifying for National Law University Delhi and matched her achievement in CLAT by winning a seat at NUJS! That Priyanka is meritorious and hardworking, is something she proved to us already. Priyankas resolution to keep going against all odds while maintaining a cheerful exterior is reflective of her fathers love and teachings. Her father was a school teacher and taught Assamese. Last year, he passed away after a long struggle with illness leaving behind his spark in Priyanka. Since then, her family maintains itself by relying solely on the meagre monthly pension they receive. However, financial obstacles have never managed to daunt Priyanka in her staunch pursuit of becoming a civil servant and serving her country one...
